Vergennes Opera House
It's 1985. Danny Fleming, the owner of a video store, dreamy, movie-struck, and unfulfilled as he sees his fortieth birthday looming ahead of him, is alone—again—on New Year’s Eve. As he is about to close the shop, one last customer hustles in, and he recognizes Meredith O'Connor, his mad crush in eighth grade, who left high school to take holy orders and become a nun before Danny ever got the chance to tell her his feelings. He instantly realizes the spark is still there but obviously, Sister Meredith Louise is off limits, until she tells him that she rethought her life path, left the convent, and is ready to experience love. What follows is the hilarious meeting of two lost souls, working their way through insecurity, desire, societal pressures, and Catholicism. As they explore their past that never happened, they realize that their future is still very possible.
The Los Angeles Times called it a "delight." Variety raved, "considerable charm, zest, imagination, and expertise." The Boston Globe proclaimed "A lovely riff of magic!"
